Prunella "Dee" Yount

Eastman- Funeral Services for Mrs. Prunella “Dee” Yount,77, Registered Nurse of Burneyville are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Eastman Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Redwine officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.


Prunella “Dee” Yount was born October 28, 1936 to Mr. John Fred DeJarnett and Mrs. Mamie Welch (Culbertson) DeJarnett at Oakland, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on Friday, October 10, 2014 at a healthcare facility in Oklahoma City.

Dee was raised at Graham where she attended school, graduating from Graham High School in 1954 as Valedictorian. She began working as a nurse and attended the Nurses Program at Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. The she recieved her certification as a Registered Nurse in 1958. Dee and the late MR. Charles Yount were married December 29, 1961 at Marietta, OK. She and Charles initially resided in Ardmore where she worked as a nurse. They moved to Healdton in 1969 where they resided until moving to Burneyville in 1983. Dee was a devoted nurse working for several healthcare facilities in the area. After retiring from healthcare Dee carried rural mail for the Wilson Post Office. Charles preceded Dee in death on October 9, 2000. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking , and ceramics. She was always dedicated to Cancer Awareness being a Breast Cancer survivor for over 20 years always volunteering with the Relay for Life Love County Team. Dee cherished her grandchildren very much and enjoyed spending time with them.


In addition to her husband, Charles Yount, Dee is also preceded in death by her Parents, John and Mamie DeJarnett; Brothers, Ralph and Jimmy; and most recently her best Friend, Lavada Matthews.


She is Survived by her Son, Bobby Yount and Azure Dunlap of Burneyville; Daughter, Wetona McCarty and husband, Dewayne of Courtney; Grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie Brown and husband, Jimmy of Lake Jackson,TX, Shelby McCarty of Ada, Lacy Yount of San Angelo,TX, McKenna Yount of Burneyville and Dylan Yount of Burneyville; Granddog , Snuggles ; friend, Maxine Terrill; Numerous other Family and Friends.


Pallbearers are Dewayne McCarty, Jimmy Brown, Brandon Ott, James DeJarnett, Jay DeJarnett, Mike Parker, and Yancy DeJarnett.


Honorary Bearers are Taylor Goldsmith, J.C. Montgomery, David Hoard and all of the Men of the Eastman Baptist Church.


Family visitation will be Monday from 6-8 PM at the Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.


In Lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials may be made to the Relay for Life of Love County 6525 N. Oklahoma City, OK 73116
