Rayleen G. Camplain

Ringling – Funeral Services for Rayleen Camplain, 58, of Ringling are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wed. Jan. 8, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Ringling with Rev. Mark Kunkel and Joe Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow at Orr Cemetery in Orr. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.

Rayleen was born on May 9, 1961 in Ringling to Cole and Nova Camplain. She was a resident of Ringling her whole life. She ended her journey on Sunday, January 5, 2020 in Oklahoma City.

Rayleen graduated from Ringling High School in 1978. Throughout school she was involved in 4H, home economics and other extracurricular activities. She held several jobs throughout her life including waitressing at the 70 Café, working at Cowboy Cleaners, First National Bank, catering parties and feeding hungry cowboys. Her passion was cooking for others and was recognized within the Beef Magazine with a recipe. She always had a very giving heart and loved everyone without prejudice.
In 1984 she met and married Jonathan Bortz from Cardington, Ohio. They had one child, Allison Kelli Bortz- Johnson that same year. She later married Dennis Smith, where she picked up Ranching as a side business.

Rayleen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Lilly Mae “Momma Mae” Camplain, and Raymond and Kathleen Urich; her father, Cole Camplain; sister Jean Camplain and a niece Cheyenne Madewell; her second husband, Dennis W. Smith; Faye Morrison, who was a dear friend and mother in law; Meryl Roberts- White, Sharon Dunn and Mike and Betty Turner, who were all more than great friends.

Survivors include her lifelong friend and partner to the end, Cecil Ray Morrison of the home in Grady; mother, Nova Childers and husband David of Caddo; daughter, Allison Johnson and her other half, Johnny Hogan, her two grandchildren Brecken and Creek Johnson, all of Ardmore; brothers, Steven Camplain and wife Cynthia of Ringling, Craig Johnson and wife Cindy of Pinedale, WY, Don Hogsett and wife Susan of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Faith Holifield and husband Larry of Liberal, KS and Lorie Patton of Caddo; numerous nieces, nephews, great friends and plenty of people who considered her a bonus mom or knew her as “Gigi”.

Honorary Bearers will be Joe McCleskey, Jerry Dillard, Charlie Foster, Mike Black, Curt Wilson and the Ringling High School Class of 1978.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
