Robert Glenn

March 6, 1932 — January 1, 2021

Robert Glenn, Sr. of Ardmore, Oklahoma passed away in Ardmore on
January 1, 2021 at the age of 88 years old.
Robert was born March 6, 1932 in Snyder, Texas to Thomas C. Glenn
and Maria Salcido Perez. He attended school in Austin, Texas, and
served in Korea from 1952-54. In 1955 Robert married the former
Janie Sanchez in Austin. They moved to Oklahoma City and had two
children, Theresa (Teri) and Robert Jr. He first worked for C. R.
Anthony and General Motors; and he later owned, with his son Robert
Jr., El Rancho. It was one among multiple family Mexican restaurants.
The last decade, before retirement, he worked as an equipment
supervisor at an environmental business.
Robert was definitely “one of kind.” He will forever be remembered as
being a “great dancer”, and it wasn’t unusual for everyone at the party
to be waiting to take turns dancing with him. He loved to dance to all
kinds of music, and especially enjoyed “big band” music. While in
Korea, Marilyn Monroe came to entertain the troops, and he was
photographed with her. He loved sharing his prized photo with others.
Robert enjoyed a great sense of humor and had mastered the art of
making people laugh. He most loved his family and God.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Theresa “Teri” Adams of Rancho
Mission Viejo, California; his son, Robert Glenn, Jr. of Yukon,
Oklahoma; and Arlene Brown his steady companion of the last 31
years. Robert has 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Meadows Smith of
Mission Viejo, California; Michael Meadows II, of Mustang, Oklahoma;
Cameron Glenn, Oklahoma City; and Haleigh Glenn Bush, of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Robert has seven great-grandchildren, J.
Michael Meadows III, Sylvia Meadows, Chazton Meadows, Jade Mia
Meadows, Jacob Zechariah Meadows, Mikayla Smith, and Max Bush.
He was also blessed to have two great-great-grandchildren, Estavan
and Eliean Gramajo.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Glenn, when he
was two; his mother Maria Glenn Flores and his stepfather Floyd
Flores who raised Robert as his own. Robert was the youngest sibling
of ten and the last to pass. His brothers and sisters were Thomas
Glenn, Maria “Mamie” Glenn Cabellero, Josephine “Josie” Glenn
Alvarado, Joe S. Glenn, Cora “Corey” Glenn Garcia, Alma “Pelli”
Glenn Salazar, Frank Glenn, J.A Glenn, and Alice Glenn De Leon.

Burial will be 2:00 pm Wednesday January 6 at Hewitt Cemetery, Wilson,
Oklahoma. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held later, at which
time he will receive the well-deserved tribute of full military honors
except “Taps”. He requested the classic farewell be omitted because it
would make everyone sad. That is classic Robert Glenn.

The family requests in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to
