Ratliff City- Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Robert Palmer Butler, 69, and his wife Mrs. Nancy Nioma Butler, 77 of Ratliff City are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 at the Ratliff City First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at the Ratliff City Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Nancy was born on June 1, 1944 to the late Mr. Neal Phillip Parnell and Mrs. Nioma Ila (Green) Parnell. She departed this life on Nov. 30, 2021 at Mercy Hospital at Ardmore.
Robert was born on August 21, 1952 at Duncan to the late Mr. Clarence Palmer "Pal" Butler and Mrs. JoAnn (Briscoe) Butler. He departed this life on Sat. Jan. 22, 2022 at the hospital at Duncan.
Nancy was raised at Chickasha and worked locally at the health department of Healdton as a clinical clerk for many years. Robert was raised near Pooleville attending school at Fox. He worked for a short period of time for Nub's Well Service before enlisting into the United States Navy, where he served honorably for 3 years. He returned to this area and married Sally Gibson and they were blessed with two daughters. Later in life Robert and Nancy met and were married on April 13th, 1999 at the Midway Baptist Church.
Robert was self employed most of his working years as an oilfield mechanic. He and Nancy enjoyed sitting on the front porch visiting with friends and drinking coffee. Robert also enjoyed spending ample time at the casino.
They both are preceded in death by their parents; and Nancy's sister; and Roberts bother, Ronnie.
Survivors include Nancy's daughter, Tracy Campbell of Ardmore; her son, Neal Fanning of Colorado; and her two grandchildren; and Robert is survived by his daughters, Robin Elaine Shorter and husband Jeremy of Ardmore and Becky Butler Martinez and husband Daniel Martinez of Bandera, TX; his brothers, Richard Butler and wife Kay, Randy Butler and wife Bea, both of Ratliff City and Roger Butler and wife Sissy of Ringling; sister-in-law, Radonna Bolles Gregg of Lone Grove; grandchildren, Michael Swanson and Emily Swanson; numerous other family and friends.
Casket bearers are Jim Hoggard, Jimmy Hoggard, Russell Butler, Michael Swanson, Jade Thompson and Jimmy Thompson.
Honorary bearers are David Barnes and Pinkey Hurley.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
