Rufus Clark, Jr.

Services for Rufus Clark, Jr., will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Alexander-Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, Oklahoma, with Pastor Casey Fain officiating. Interment will follow at Bomer-Point Cemetery.


Rufus Clark, Jr. was born July 4, 1936, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Rufus William and Retta Melissa (Dipboye) Clark. He passed from this life on March 24, 2024, in Grand Prairie, Texas at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 20 days.


Rufus spent his early childhood years in St. Louis, Oklahoma and then moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Jo Cudd, in November 1955. Rufus attended Oklahoma State Technical school in Okmulgee where he earned an associate degree in diesel mechanics. Rufus and Peggy were blessed with two children, James Dee and Susan Kelly Clark. He worked for Detroit Diesel in Oklahoma City until 1965 when the family moved to Woodward, Oklahoma. He operated a hot oil unit business in Woodward until his retirement in 1994. Peggy and Rufus moved to Gainesville, Texas in 1998 where they spent many years enjoying their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Rufus had many happy retirement years traveling, golfing, and fishing. He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering in his workshop. Rufus was the one his family and friends depended on to fix whatever was broken. He came to accept Jesus Christ as his savior as a young teenager and did his best to serve the Lord and be an example for others.


Rufus is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jim, Dale, Donald, and Bobby Clark, and his sisters, Audrey Dudley and Wilma Clark.


He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Peggy. His son, Dr. James Clark and wife Zoia of Lincoln, Nebraska. His daughter, Dr. Susan Chrostowski and her husband Mike of Grand Prairie, Texas. His grandchildren: Mara Clark English and husband Mike, Yasha Clark, Katy Burdett Crisafi, and Jenny Burdett Fain and husband Casey. His great-grandchildren: Knox, Fritz, Theo, Othniel, & Veran Fain and Clark & Rex Crisafi.


Pallbearers will be Yasha Clark, Mike English, Mike Chrostowski, Craig Crisafi, James Clark, and Casey Fain.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Solaris Hospice in Gainesville, Texas.
