Ruth Ann Mcneill

January 2, 1939 — June 1, 2024

In loving memory of Ruth Ann McNeill, a remarkable woman whose grace, resilience, and love illuminated the lives of all who knew her. Ruth Ann passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to faith and family.

Born on January 2, 1939, to Gene and Loretha (Mason) Vickrey in Healdton, Oklahoma, Ruth Ann was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was the epitome of strength, virtue, and wisdom. She navigated life's challenges with unwavering resolve, always expecting the best in herself and others and modeling a commitment to her faith, her values, and her family.

A devoted wife to Tom McNeill for nearly 65 years, they shared a bond made strong by complimentary gifts and goals. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she took great pride in being

a nurturing mother to her sons, and a loving Nana to her grandchildren, and great granddaughter. She never failed to be a fierce protector of her family. Ruth Ann felt duty-bound to never letting her family down.

Ruth Ann had a passion for learning and helping others, which she pursued with religious devotion. Whether she was teaching grade school children, caring for others as a registered nurse, family nurse practitioner and nursing home Administrator, volunteering at Sooner Youth Camp, printing photographs at Photo Synthesis, or helping her hometown of Healdton, Oklahoma as a member of the Music Club, Study Club, Lions Club, and the Alumni Association, her loyalty and enthusiasm to making the work better was truly inspiring. Ruth Ann loved music, singing soprano in her alto voice in church and to her children and grandchildren and making every attempt to teach each of them to play the piano as she did. She was ceaselessly going and doing, but always seemed to have time to read a book to her children or rock a grandchild to sleep with a song.

Her absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the countless lives she touched. Ruth Ann will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion, and her unwavering love for those blessed to be called friend and family. She was a small lady with the heart of a warrior. She was both tender and strong. She was called to be a preserver and protector of good things.

Ruth Ann is survived by husband, Tom McNeill, sons Scott McNeill and his wife Laura, Brett McNeill, Stephen McNeill, and Ryan McNeill and his wife Sarah. She is also survived by sister Frances Waugh, brother, Jon Vickrey, and grandchildren, Bronwyn Skinner and her husband Bryce, Madelyn McNeill, Lauryn McNeill, Otis McNeill, and Margot McNeill, and great granddaughter, Elys Anne Skinner.

A celebration of Ruth Ann's life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Merrick Drive Church of Christ in Ardmore, Oklahoma at 2pm. Visitation will be held at the Alexander-Gray Funeral Home in Wilson, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 8 from 5 to 7pm. A private burial will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Healdton Alumni Association PO Box 771 Healdton, OK 73438.
