Sharon Barksdale

Gene Autry- Funeral Services for Mrs. Sharon (Conyer) Barksdale, 65, of Gene Autry are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Gene Autry Baptist Church with Rev. David Colaw officiating. Interment will follow at the Berwyn Cemetery in Gene Autry. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Sharon (Conyer) Barksdale was born May 4, 1949 at Ardmore, Oklahoma to Mr. Burney Franklin Conyer and Mrs. Lois Mae (Preist) Conyer. She passed from this life Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at her home in Gene Autry .

Sharon was raised mostly in Sulphur moving to Gene Autry during her Sophomore year in High School. She graduated from Berwyn High School in 1967. Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Billy Barksdale November 2, 1968 at Ardmore. They lived the majority of their years in the Ardmore area presently residing in Gene Autry. Sharon enjoyed baking, crocheting and riding motorcycles. She never met a stranger and always enjoyed visiting.

Preceding her in death are her Parents, Burney and Lois Conyer; Brothers, Billy Joe, Burney Gene and James Paul and Sister, Velma Lou.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Barksdale of the home; Sons, Chad Barksdale and wife, Kim of Corpus Christi, TX and Todd Barksdale of Gene Autry; Brothers, Robert Conyers and wife, Jackie of Zwolle, LA and Ronnie Conyer of Ardmore; Sisters, Norma Jean Ryder and husband, Wayne of McAlister, OK and Jannette Noble and husband, Joe of Ardmore, Ellen Conyer of Springer and Laura Cooksey and husband , Roger of McAlister, OK; Grandson, Randall Romeo of Ponca City, OK ; Granddaughter, Rachel Romeo of Tulsa, OK; Numerous other Family and Friends.

Pallbearers are Butch Wilson, Larry Brunk, John Patton, Preston Jolly, Paul Brightwell and Adam Brown.

Honorary Bearer is Ronald Coffman.

Family visitation will be held at the Gene Autry Baptist Church Thursday evening from 6-8 PM.
