Shirlet "Marlene" Ford (Sullivan)

May 29, 1937 — March 31, 2022

Lone Grove – Shirlet Marlene Ford was born in her grandmother's home, Lydia Pearl Smith, in rural Lone Grove, Oklahoma, to parents Johnny Thomas Sullivan and Emma Louis Smith-Sullivan on May 29, 1937. She left this earth for her eternal home on March 31, 2022. A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Lone Grove Cemetery.

She brought a mother's comfort to everyone who came into her life as if they were her own. To be in her presence, even for a moment, means to know the warmth that radiated off her. One of her greatest loves was sewing quilts for loved ones. It was her way of hugging them while they were apart.
Self-sufficiency was vital to her and all she knew, so she sewed clothes, raised chickens, planted trees, canned foods, and enjoyed making things from scratch. You can rest assured you didn't go to her house without getting fed or leaving without a big hug that left you knowing you are loved.
Marlene had a sparkle in her eye that captivated everyone as she told stories and an infectious smile that lit up a room. She never hesitated to tell you about her strong relationship with God and was quick to remind you to pray and pray for you. They say the brightest stars burn the fastest, but she shone a radiant light into this world for 84 years and will continue to shine through her loved ones and in spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Ford, her brother, Jim Sullivan, and her grandson, David Cunningham.

She is survived by her children, Dock Ford of Healdton, Nick and Donna Ford of Lone Grove, Wade and Leah Ford of Missouri, and Jim and Stacey Ford of Ardmore, her brothers, Cardell and Verney Sullivan, grandchildren, Michael Ford, Thomas Barnes, Megan Ford, Colin Ford, Wesley Ford, Allie Ford, and Kimberly Ford and four great-grandchildren.
