Stanley "Odell" Bench

Mr. Stanley “Odell” Bench, age 75, of Ratliff City, went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 5th, 2020. He went peacefully in his home with those he cherished most by his side, his wife of 52 years, children, grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Graveside Funeral Services with Military Honors are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the New Velma Cemetery in Velma with Rev. Monk Firestone officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City.

Mr. Bench was born on August 24, 1944 in Wilburton to the late Mr. Charley Bench and Mrs. Danner (Stephens) Bench. His father was an original enrollee of the Choctaw tribe.

He grew up and attended school in Wilburton until joining the United States Army where he proudly served his country. Odell married Ms. Hope Pearson on November 6, 1968 in Stephens County, Oklahoma. Together they made their home in Ratliff City where he would work in the oilfield for many years. Odell enjoyed working outdoors in his flower and vegetable gardens. In previous years he enjoyed dancing and water skiing. He will be missed very much by his family and friends. “Pa we will see you later Old Man”.

Mr. Bench is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nikki LaVone Bench; son in law, Dustin Ballard; and granddaughter, Jennifer Huff; brothers, Ray and Fred Bench; sisters, Faye Mullins, Violet White, and Starley Loftis.

Odell leaves to cherish his memory wife, Hope (Pearson) Bench of the home; daughters, Sandy Bench of Ratliff City; Danna Huff and husband Farlan of Ada; sisters, Pauline Groggins of Wilburton, and Betty Cox of Velma; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
