Syble Ashley

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Syble Ashley, 68, of Newport are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday January 23, 2014 at the Assembly of God Church of Wilson with Rev. Steve Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at the Newport Cemetery north of Lone Grove. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Syble was born May 27, 1945 at Orr to the late Mr. Elbert Seth Whatley and Mrs. Union America (Craze) Whatley. She departed this life Sunday, January 19, 2014 at her home in Newport.

Syble was raised at Orr attending school there and at Ringling. She married Mr. Roy Ashley on September 12, 1960 at Marietta. They lived at several places following work until they made their home in this area in 1970. Syble worked outside her home at the Pants Factory and at the hospital before becoming employed at the Valero Refinery of Ardmore as the Security Guard. She was a guard there for 27 years and also taught security guard classes at SOTC of Ardmore for 4 years. She enjoyed camping when able, and always provided her special handmade crochete blankets for all her grand kids when they were born. She loved spending time with all of her family.

Preceding her in death were her Parents; Daughter Tina Marie Ashley - 1979 and 10 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her Husband, Roy Ashley of Newport; Daughters, Belinda Callaway and husband Donald of Dickson and Cynthia "Bug" Pense of Newport; Son, Larry Ashley and wife Tammie of Newport; Sisters in law, Elizabeth Whatley of Wilson, Georgia Spradling of Lone Grove and Louise Whatley of Marietta; Grandchildren, Donald Callaway and wife Heather, Randal Callaway and wife Courtney, Jonathan Callaway, Christina Pense, Melody Pense, Ronald Bailey, Kammie Tampas and husband Mark, Pamela House, Samantha Burgas, Michael House and wife Berta; Great Grandchildren, Gunner Callaway, River Boone, Jelynn House, Jonah House, Micheala House, Kyra Brown and Jacob House; Numerous other relatives, nieces and nephews.

Casket Bearers are Rodney Whatley, Jason Holley, Jeff Whatley, Anthony Bosmans, Jimmy Ashley and Dale Ashley.

Honorary Bearers Ron Downing, Joe Burns, Larry Winchester, Larry McElhinty, David Thomason, Curtis Moore and all other nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice of Ardmore, 207 C St. NW.

Family visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 pm Wed. evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
