Tommie Beatrice Nickerson

Ringling - Ms. Tommie Beatrice Nickerson, age 80, formerly of Ringling, OK, peacefully departed this life on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling with Linn Carlson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton.

Bea was born on May 1, 1938 to the late Mr. Oscar E. Nickerson and Mrs. Tommie J. (Porter) Nickerson in Frances, OK.

Bea received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from East Central State College in Oklahoma. She taught in the public schools of California for many years and also earned a Master’s Degree in Education during her time in California. In 1986, she and Mary Lou Nichols made their home north of Ringling on their beloved farm. Bea taught in the Healdton Public School District until retirement and is fondly remembered by many, many students. Bea moved to Arkansas in the latter years of her life to be near her goddaughter.

Bea lived a life full of love and had many cherished relationships with family and friends. She enjoyed adventure and traveled the world during her summer vacations. Bea was an avid LA Dodgers fan and OKC Thunder fan. In her later years, she loved to read and tutor young people long after her retirement. Bea had a “little poodle dog” named Desiree that she adored.

Bea is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Tommie Nickerson; her best friend, Mary Lou Nichols; and seven brothers. She is survived by her dear sister, Mary Fletcher, and brothers Alford (Doc) Nickerson & Oscar (Junior) Nickerson. Bea is also survived by many, many beloved nieces and nephews and her goddaughter.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alford Nickerson, John Nickerson, Oscar Nickerson, Kenny Nickerson, Doug Nickerson, and Shane Sampson.

Visitation is scheduled from 6-8pm on Thursday, April 25th at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home.
