Travis Albin

Healdton - The family has planned a memorial service for Travis Albin, 78, that will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at Healdton Assembly of God Church. Pastor Quentin Newton will preside.

Travis was born Aug. 5, 1944 in Carter County. He died July 11, 2023 at Denton Presbyterian Hospital, Denton, TX.  Cremation services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton. 

Travis graduated from Zaneis High School. He attended the University of Oklahoma for several semesters before serving in the military. He served six years in the United States Navy. He graduated from the Navy’s Nuclear Power School and served as a nuclear reactor technician in the submarine service.

Travis worked for more than 20 years as a mechanic at the Michelin tire factory in Ardmore before retiring. After his retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher.

Travis was a devout Christian and a Royal Rangers Commander and Sectional Commander, serving Royal Rangers outposts at both Crystal Rock Cathedral Assembly of God, Ardmore, and Healdton Assembly of God churches, where he inspired many boys and young men to lives of Christian service. Travis was a Deacon at Healdton Assembly of God, where he also worked with youth and helped lead Sunday School. He was a member of the Gideons International.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, hiking, and all sorts of outdoor activities. He was CLEET certified and earned a black belt in Judo during his college years.

Travis had many good friends, especially among his church family and his coworkers at the post office.

Travis is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Barbara Albin; two adult children - Tyrell Albin and his wife Sahona, and Mary Snow and her husband Aaron; two adult stepchildren, Ambera Mack and her husband Andrew, and Jacob Charnock and his wife Julie. He is also survived by his grandchildren - Camden, Kennedy, Payton, and Barrett Mack; Brooklyn and Presley Charnock; and Scarlet Snow. He has two surviving siblings - Spencer Keith Albin, and Anita Albin, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Travis was preceded in death by one sister, Loretta Jarvis, and his parents, Spencer and Vergie Albin. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Karen Albin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Healdton Assembly of God, the Gideons International, or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
