Truey Christine Wood

Healdton - A celebration of life service for Truey Christine (Roach) Wood, 99, of Healdton, will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, June 14, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Healdton with Dr. Bob Cloyde officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.

Truey was born in Batesville, Arkansas, on August 22, 1919, to Charles Winslow Roach and Ernestine Johnston. She passed away on Wednesday morning, June 12, 2019, at Elmbrook Nursing Home in Ardmore.

Truey, affectionately known as "MoMo" to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many others, was raised in Lone Grove, where she attended school. She married Clyde Gene Wood on May 11, 1935, in Lone Grove. They spent most of their married life together in Healdton, where they raised their four children—Peggy, Jerry, Patty and Terry.

Truey was a dedicated homemaker and a long-time member of the Healdton First Baptist Church, where she was actively involved as long as her health allowed. She was a wonderful cook and always made sure her guests were well fed. She was also an exceptional seamstress, making many clothes for her children and grandchildren. When the grandchildren would visit, they would always receive a quarter from Clyde "PoPo", but everyone now knows the quarters actually came from MoMo's quarter jar. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew and loved her, and she will be greatly missed.

Truey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde, on August 28, 1998; daughter, Peggy Norwood; grandson, Kerry Turner; granddaughter, June Boettcher, great-grandson, Kody Turner; sister, Charlene Gazaway; and brother, Ronnie Roach.

She is survived by a son, Jerry Wood and his wife, Joan of Abilene, Texas; daughter, Patty Kelly of Healdton; son, Terry Wood of Ardmore; a sister, Jo Hayward of Keller, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Kena Crumley and husband, Raymond of Tuttle, Kim Hughes and husband, Paul of Duncan, Mike Norwood and wife, Alicia of Argyle, Texas, Leah Lovelady and husband, Johnny of Irving, Texas, Christi Blakemore and husband, Mark of Healdton, Tres Burke and wife, Terry of Abilene, Texas, Molly Felfe and husband, Sidney of Rockwall, Texas, Cindy Dickerson and husband, Bobby of Healdton, Andrea Wood of Moore, and Amy Storts and husband, Jared of Ardmore; 22 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

A family visitation is scheduled for Thursday evening, June 13, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
