Virginia Ruth Simmons

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Virginia Ruth (Cheatham) Simmons, 82, of Garland, TX are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Joshua R. Gunter officiating. Interment will follow at Simon Cemetery south of Wilson.

Mrs. Simmons was born August 24, 1930 at Halls, TN to the late Mr. Charlie Elbert Cheatham and Mrs. Ruby Louise (Miller) Cheatham. She departed this life Tuesday October 30, 2012 at Garland, TX.

Mrs. Simmons was raised in Tennessee and relocated to Texas in her mid 20’s. She and Mr. Frankie Melbourn Simmons were united in marriage on June 5, 1959 at Hugo, OK. They have lived most of their years together in Garland, TX, where Virginia was employed at Texas Instruments. She also worked as a devoted homemaker and enjoyed tagging along hunting and fishing with Frankie. She also enjoyed reading and knitting and was a member of the Lavon Drive Baptist Church of Garland, TX.

Preceding her in death is her Parents and a Brother, Charles;

Survivors include her Husband Frankie of the home; Son James Carlton Simmons and wife Renee of Corinth, TX; Daughter Barbara Louise Stone of Garland, TX; Brother N.B. Cheatham of Garland, TX; 1 Granddaughter, Christine and 2 Great Granddaughters Adrianna and Chloe; Numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers are family.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
