W.B. "Dub" Roberts

Ringling- Funeral Services for Mr. W.B. “Dub” Roberts , 75 , of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling with Bro. Paul Jackson Officiating and Bro. Billy Holder and Bro. Bobby Perkins assisting. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

W.B. Roberts was born November 20, 1938 at Ringling, Oklahoma to Mr. Lester Ralph Roberts and Mrs. Anna Elizabeth (Alexander) Roberts . He Passed from this life Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after he had a stroke suddenly on Saturday, March 15, 2014.

W.B. was raised in Ringling and was the youngest of 10 children. He started working at an early age , throwing newspapers. Later he worked after school for Billy Morris, stocking groceries and continued on as a grocery clerk full time for Harry Goodman Grocery in Ringling for 13 years. W.B. went to work for Uniroyal Tire Company/ Michelin of North America in Ardmore and worked there for 28 years. He retired in December of 2000. W.B. was known as “Dub” around town and he loved the town of Ringling and all the people in it. Several People in town looked for his daily visit and really missed him coming when he was sick. W.B. married the love of his life, Verna Mae Hawkins October 30, 1960 at the Gospel Tabernacle and they were married for 53 years. They were the parents of 5 children. W.B. was the treasurer of the church he helped start in 1962. He was a very faithful to his job at the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ on Main and Ninth Street in Ringling.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Lester and Anna Roberts; Daughter, Charity Ann; 4 Brothers, Lester JR., Buck, Jack and Clarence; Half Brother, Roy Robert Reed; 3 Sisters, Floreine Abshire, Billy Jean Cauldwell and Geraldine Liggett.

W.B. is survived by his Wife, Verna Roberts of the Home; Four Children, Faith Pace and husband, Greg, Jeanie Miller and husband, Doug, Billy Roberts and wife, Christie, Boyd Roberts and wife Shayla; Sister Jewel Allen and a Niece, Barb Melton who was raised in his childhood home as a sister; Sister in law, Betty Roberts; 5 Nieces, Judy, Kathy, Carol Anne, Mickey and Billy Jean Roberts; 4 Nephews, Donnie Allen, Calvin Hill, Hal Roberts and Jack Roberts; His Wife’s Brothers , Larry Hawkins and Gary Hawkins; Wife’s Sister, Lana King; 10 Grandchildren, Hazel Stubbs, Tiffany Wright, Crystal and Danya Miller, Holden, Gabriel, Imogen and Lola Roberts, Cayden and Jayden Roberts; 1 Great Grandchild, Jacob Stubbs; Numerous Nephew and Niece in laws.

Casket Bearers are Greg Pace, Doug Miller, James Stubbs, Barry Pemberton, Gene Jackson and David Taylor.

Honorary Bearers are Bobby Perkins, Alton Pemberton, Gary Hawkins, Larry Hawkins and Jack Roberts.

Family visitation will be held from 2 to 4 PM Sunday afternoon at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
