Lone Grove- Funeral Services for Mr. Wayne Magee, 77, of Lone Grove, is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Leo Potts officiating. Interment will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Wayne was born August 6, 1934 Burkburnett, TX to the late Patrick Magee and Katherine (Wilson) Magee. He departed this life Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Lone Grove.

Wayne was raised mainly at Lone Grove graduating high school there. He joined the U.S. Navy on October 10, 1952. He served in Alaska on the USS Cape Esperance, an Aircraft Carrier during the Korean Conflict. He received his honorary discharge in September 12, 1956 transferring to the Reserves until 1960. He began working for the Ardmore Police Department on April 19, 1960. He retired after 20 years of service as Captain. Then moving on to the Carter County Sherriff’s Department where he worked for 17 years, retiring in 1997.

He married Mary Marie Chaney November 7, 1997 at Gainesville, TX. They enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Wayne was baptized on an Easter Sunday with his son Kevin at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death are his Parents; Daughter, Deanna Vonette; Son, Kevin Wayne; Step-Daughter, Judy William, and 2 brothers, Teddy and Richard.

Survivors include his wife Mary Marie of the home in Lone Grove; Children, Robbie Magee, Carrie Roberts and Granddaughter, Elisha Roberts, Kelley Smith, Dee Dee Biber, Mendy Johnston, Harold Jamison, and Lora Jamison; 13 other Grandchildren whom include, Jacob and Megan Biber, Bryce, Dylan and Kasey Smith, Brooklyn and Cooper Johnston, Sisters, Betty Branch and Patricia Hockersmith; Brother, Monte Magee; numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Pallbearers are Rob Stockton, Larry Magee, Shawn Magee, Tom Branch, Kelley Smith, Ricky Magee, and Patrick Tarrant.

Honorary Bearers are the officers and personnel of the Ardmore Police Department and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.

Family visitation will be from 5-7pm Wed. evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
