Alma Dean was born July 16, 1939, at Keller, to the late Mr. Almouth Bassel Cantrell and Mrs. Martha Maggie Lee (Farmer) Cantrell. She departed this life Monday, March 2, 2026, at Healdton.

Alma Dean spent her formative years in Wheeler, Oklahoma, where she attended grade school and continued her education through the 11th grade at Rexroat High School. Her youthful days were filled with joyful memories, particularly her Saturday nights spent in Wilson with her friend Lawana Martin and her family. They would often visit local cafes such as Weeks, Dudes, Balews, and Pheffers drug store, eagerly awaiting the start of the evening's movie previews. In 1954, Alma Dean met A.C. Overby through mutual friends, a meeting that would lead to a lifelong partnership. The couple wed at the courthouse in Ardmore on October 24, 1955, establishing their home in Wilson, where they would create a warm and loving environment for their family. While Alma Dean dedicated much of her life to being a housewife and mother, she also ventured into the workforce. She worked at the Eagles Nest Café and for a time at Betty Fitzsimmons clothing store in town. Her commitment to her community was evident during her active involvement in the Oklahoma Nutrition Program from 1998 through 2008, through which she positively impacted many lives. Alma Dean cherished the joys of life, finding pleasure in fishing, indulging her love for reading, and challenging her mind with puzzles. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, A.C. Overby, who departed on April 25, 2017. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, and Alma Dean's legacy will continue through the memories shared by family and friends.
