Graveside services for Barbara Jean (Rutledge) Walker, 90, of Lone Grove, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 8, 2026, at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Barbara was born October 2, 1935, at Wilson, OK, to the late Mr. Edmond "Edd" Rutledge and Mrs. Lennie (Glenn) Rutledge. She departed this life Thursday, June 4, 2026, in Ardmore, OK.
Barbara’s early years were shaped by her education in Wilson, where she graduated with the class of 1953. A testament to her exemplary attendance, Barbara earned awards for never missing a day of school. During her high school years, she participated in Girls State, an experience that sparked a lifelong passion for politics and civic engagement. Shortly after graduating, Barbara married Grandville “Corkey” Lee Bolles on September 3, 1953. Together, they made their home in Rexroat and became deeply involved members of the Rexroat Baptist Church community. The couple raised four daughters, nurturing a close-knit family with love and care. Unfortunately, Corkey passed away on December 7, 1971, leaving Barbara a widow. In response to life’s challenges, Barbara entered the workforce to support her family. Her career as a secretary was marked by dedication and versatility, holding positions at Falconhead Resort, B.F. Goodrich Tire Store, and Lynn Boyer Electric Company. After nineteen years of widowhood, Barbara found companionship and love again when she married Loye “Gene” Walker on August 25, 1990. Their marriage flourished for 31 years, a period rich with shared travels and cherished moments throughout their retirement years until Gene's passing on January 30, 2022.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Lennie Rutledge; husband, Corkey and husband, Gene; daughter, Glendene Denton; one great grandson.
Survivors include daughters Tracey Hamilton with Larry Buck, Cathey McCutchen, and Gina Black with husband Lee; bonus daughter, Tracie Bevers with husband Troy; grandchildren, Tammy Fields with husband Bill, Tina Rogers with husband Rhett, Tonya Cooper with husband Trent, Kenneth Wright, Chuck Manley, Derek Black with wife Bailey, Dylan Hamilton with wife Lindsey, James Denton with wife Elyssa, Cacy Vernon with husband Daniel, Haley McCutchen, Harley McCutchen, and Davis Black; bonus grandchildren, Brad Bevers with wife Jessica, Byron Bevers with wife Kasie, and Deidra Bevers; 19 great-grandchildren; 6 bonus great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
