Ardmore

Healdton - A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Barbara Sue (Wells) Weaver, age 95, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Healdton, officiated by Rev. Jimmy May and Pastor Kent Stewart. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.

Barbara was born on August 18, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to the late Mr. Daniel "Dan" Ambrose Wells and Mrs. Mattie Ola (Elliott) Wells. She departed this life on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at her home in Ardmore, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.

Raised primarily in Oilton, Oklahoma, Barbara graduated from high school there and married her high school sweetheart, Shafter Weaver, on June 1, 1947, at the Oilton First Baptist Church. The couple moved to Healdton in 1950, where they raised their seven children. Barbara was a devoted homemaker and mother, known for her warmth and hospitality towards everyone. She served diligently as a Sunday school teacher at both Bethel and Healdton First Baptist Churches and enjoyed various activities such as substitute teaching, managing the swimming pool, and enjoyed music, camping events and most recently watching rodeos on TV. Barbara was an enthusiastic supporter of the OKC Thunder and the Dallas Cowboys.

Known for her adventurous spirit, she often transported kids—and even a calf and pony—in her Volkswagen bus. Her love for singing was reflected in her participation in the choir and hosting gatherings at her home, including slumber parties for her daughters' friends and entertaining at hootenannies. Above all, Barbara cherished her family. She loved everyone she came to know and all animals, including her pets, notably two ducks named Waylon and Willie.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Mattie Wells; Art and Clara Wilcox; brother, Dan Wells; sister, Sandra Purcell; brother, Ivan Sherwood; granddaughters Jettie Farmer and Kaley Hartman; and daughter-in-law Pam Weaver.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Shafter, of the home; her children: Susan Journeycake and husband Mike, Michael Weaver and wife Susie, Melanie Emerson and husband Larry, Patrick Weaver and wife Kathi, Tony Weaver and wife Lisa, Timothy Weaver and Lesa Wagner, Christopher Weaver and wife Krystal, and honorary "daughter" Jan Stewart Marutzky; grandchildren, Cody Farmer and wife Julie, Rachel Farmer Thompson and husband James, Bonny Farmer Ward and husband Jimmy, Farah Hartman and husband Clint, Shane Journeycake and wife Jennifer, Zane Weaver, Abby Weaver Murguia and husband Jesse, Zack Weaver and wife Taylor, Aubrey Emerson Carter and husband Frank, Jaden Emerson and wife Cassie, Sunne Emerson, Jeremy Weaver, Joshua Weaver, Jennifer Weaver, Jacob Weaver and wife Katelyn, Caleb Weaver and wife Allie, Lyndsay Weaver Hajek and husband Kale, Dillon Weaver and wife Jeanette, Levi Weaver, John Kirk II and wife Destiny, and Callynn Weaver; great-grandchildren, Logan Schoonover, Jamison Farmer, Zoey Triepke, Pheobe Triepke, Aiden Thompson, Uriah Thompson, Jett Ward, Bailey Cartwright, Raigan Ward, Cody Hartman, Ty Hartman, Zeke Murguia, Sam Murguia, J.
