Bill Price

Funeral Services for Billy "Bill" Bob Price, 89 of Marietta are scheduled for 9:00 A.M., Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Johnny Young officiating.  Interment will follow at West Memorial Cemetery in Lone Grove.  

Bill was born April 6, 1937, in Carter County, OK to the late Mr. Robert Thomas Price, Jr. and Mrs. Glenna (Gaither) Price.  He departed from this life Monday, July 20, 2026, at his home in Marietta. 

Bill was raised in Lone Grove where he attended school.  On December 20, 1956, he married Ms. Mary Nell Emerson in Gainesville, TX.  They had remained together in this area living near Dillard where they farmed and ranched.  They purchased Washington Ranch in Love County in 1991, which relocated them to Marietta. Together, Mary Nell and Bill successfully bred, raised and trained champion racehorses.

Throughout the years, Bill's horses were recognized as the AQHA Champion Geldings, Horse of the Year, Champion Quarter Horse Racing Stock, Champion Aged Gelding, Champion Oklahoma Bred and was recognized by the OQHRA as Leading Dam of Breeding Stock.  He was the leading Oklahoma Owner and Breeder of the Year as well in 2003.  As it was stated in an article, Bill is a well-known horseman, who has won Quarter horse racing the biggest races, and owned horses that have held many track records. Records racking up over 850 wins in nearly 5000 races as an owner and breeder.  Bill was inducted into the Oklahoma Quarter horse Hall of Fame in 2017 as one of the country's top quarter horse breeders. 

Bill was not only a horseman, farmer and rancher, but he was also a husband, father and papa, who had a powerful presence wherever he went.  He enjoyed driving around looking at his cattle grazing and the peacefulness it brought him. 

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Mary Nell on December 31, 2021; son, Randy Ray Price on May 14, 2009; brothers Jerry Price and Finis Price. 

Bill is survived by his son, Bobby Price and wife Tammy; daughters, Cindy Muller and husband Mark and Sherry Sawyers and husband Shane; grandchildren, Landon Price, Casey Price, Jodi Michael, 4 other grandchildren, Cody Muller, Candice Price Jefferson, JaCoda Brook Langley, Shane Ogletree, and Bryar Sawyers; numerous great grandchildren; sisters in law, Kay Norton, Sharon Bural, and Barbara Price; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. 

Pallbearers will be Casey Price, Cody Muller, Shane Olgetree, Bryar Sawyers, Landon Price, Karsen Jefferson, and Judsen Jefferson.  Honorary bearers will be A. B. Smith, Timothy Titus, Jackie Price, and Ronnie Bonner. 

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
