Brenda Joyce (Bright) Taylor

December 18, 1955 — January 8, 2026

Graveside services for Brenda Joyce (Bright) Taylor, 70, of Yukon, are scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the New Velma Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Savage officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.

Brenda was born December 18, 1955, at Ardmore, OK to the late Mr. Guy Jefferson Bright and Mrs. Thelma Joyce (Strickland) Bright. She departed this life January 8, 2026, in Ponca City, OK.

Raised in Oklahoma City, Brenda attended Counsil Grove Elementary and graduated from Western Heights High School with the class of 1974. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing, a journey that began at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, where she obtained her nursing license. Brenda embarked on her professional journey at Enid Bass Hospital. Her commitment to patient care and her adventurous spirit inspired her to become a travel nurse, allowing her to share her healing touch in various communities. Brenda concluded her distinguished nursing career at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, retiring in 1995. Following her retirement, Brenda devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. She had an adventurous soul, often traveling to her favorite destinations, particularly Branson, Missouri, and Graceland, where her admiration for Elvis Presley sparked joy within her. Brenda found happiness in nurturing her garden, tending to her beloved roses, and delighting in her collection of frogs, each item holding a special place in her heart. She was known for her cooking skills, but Brenda's greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren. Brenda was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and family.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Guy and Thelma Joyce Bright.

Survivors include her daughters, Tara Wilson-Brown and fiancé Tim Rauh of Enid, Christy Sleeker and husband Chris of Bristow; sister, Sharon Cutler of Yukon; brother, Ronald Bright of Edmond; grandchildren, Lacy Larson, Donovan Rauh, Denise Perkins, Brandy Sleeker, and Justin Sleeker; great grandchildren, Landyn, Baileigh, Shelby, Brooklyn, Dominic, Zeke, Tyler, Remi, and River; step-son, Michael Garrett and wife Amanda of Oklahoma City along with his six children, Sasha, Jasmine, Scott, Alex, Antonio, Brody Emerson, and Laramie Grace; numerous other family and many friends.
