Carla Lynn (Hodges) Cunningham

Graveside services for Carla Lynn (Hodges) Cunningham, 78, of Kingston, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 20, 2025, at Simon Cemetery in Love County, with Rev. Mark Fuller officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Carla was born March 8, 1947, at Simon, OK, to the late Mr. Thomas Eugene Hodges and Mrs. Linnie Bell (Sexton) Hodges. She departed this life June 17, 2025, at Kingston.

Born on March 8, 1947, Carla was raised primarily in Wilson, where she attended school and laid the foundation for a life filled with love, creativity, and commitment to her family. On October 16, 1962, Carla married Joe Edward “Ed” Cunningham in Ardmore, a union that marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Together, they created a warm and loving home in Wilson before moving to Kingston, where they continued to nurture their family. As a dedicated mother, Carla devoted her time and energy to raising her children, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and creativity. Once her children were grown, she brought her enthusiasm for nurturing to her work in the Kingston school lunchroom, where she contributed to the well-being of countless students. Carla was renowned for her exceptional sewing skills, creating lovingly crafted dresses for the girls in her family and matching outfits for their dolls. Her talent extended beyond everyday garments to intricate wedding dresses and stunning quilts, each piece a testament to her dedication and artistry. She was an active participant in a local quilting club, sharing her passion and expertise with other like-minded women. Among her many joys, Carla cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, often taking them to the serene beaches of Lake Texoma, where laughter and memories flourished. Each excursion was an opportunity for Carla to share her love of nature and play, forming bonds that will last a lifetime.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Thomas and Linnie Bell; husband, Ed on April 27, 2013.

Survivors include her sons, Ron Dean Cunningham and wife Elizabeth of Marshall County and Ben Cunningham of Arkansas; granddaughter, Hillary Cunningham of Marshall County; grandson, Brock Cunningham and wife Gabby of Pilot Point, TX.; sister, Alecia Williams of Woodbine, TX; brothers, Lacey Ray Hodges of Lone Grove, OK, James Hartford Hodges and wife Geraldine of Enos, TX; niece, Sherry Watkins and husband Richard; nephew, David Morse; numerous other family and friends.

Honorary bearers are Brock Cunningham, Delane Williams, Craig Hodges, Clayton Hodges, Charlie Hodges, and Ray Hodges.
