Charles Edward Hilton, aged 75, of Marietta, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2026, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Born on December 14, 1950, in Geary, Oklahoma, he was the son of James Newt Hilton and Loretta Mae Hilton. Services are being conducted under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home and Crematory in Wilson.
Known affectionately as Charlie, he graduated in May 1970 before being drafted into the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Shortly after, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart, Donna Rains, on April 8, 1971. His military service included postings at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, and at Panmunjom, Korea, where he was assigned instead of deployment to Vietnam. After completing his service, he returned home.
Charlie’s professional life included driving trucks for JD Hauling and Pepsi, serving as a reserve Deputy for Love County, working as a security guard for WinStar, and later employment with the City of Marietta, where he worked until a stroke in 2012. In 2023, he underwent open-heart surgery and subsequently because of this, he moved to the Veterans Center.
He enjoyed fishing, crafting miniature log cabins, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, spending time with his granddaughters, and quietly observing the purple martins from his swing. Above all, Charlie cherished his faith and love for the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christi Hilton; brothers, Donald and Larry Hilton; brothers-in-law, Roy Henderson and Norm Wimpee; sisters-in-law, Linda Cross and Gayle Riley; parents-in-law, M.C. and Mildred Rains; and niece, Amy Hilton.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna (Rains) Hilton; three sons, Brent Hilton and wife Kara, Michael Hilton and wife Paula, and Justin Hughes and wife Savanna; grandchildren, Hannah, Emma, and Lily Hilton, Emorie Hughes, and Tucker Pumphrey; brothers Johnny Hilton and wife Brenda, and Ronnie Hilton; sisters Linda Wimpee and Beverly Henderson; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
