Graveside services for Charles "Charlie" Orville Taliaferro, 83, will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Taliaferro Family Cemetery, with Pastor Donny Custar officiating. The arrangements are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Charlie was born on September 29, 1942, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late Mr. Orville Taliaferro and Mrs. Carmen Ruth (Michael) Taliaferro. He passed away at his home in Lone Grove on December 25, 2025.
Raised in Lone Grove, Charlie graduated from Lone Grove High School in 1960. He furthered his education at Murray State College, where he studied business for a year and a half. In 1963, he joined the United States Reserves, serving honorably until 1969. On May 7, 1965, he married Ms. Cheryl Rae Shurley in Ardmore, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Throughout his life, Charlie was self-employed, yet the most significant aspect of his life remained his family, with whom he cherished time spent visiting and helping one another.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Charles Wesley Taliaferro.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl, of the home; his son, Wade Taliaferro, and wife Sonya of Lone Grove; grandchildren Alex Breshears and husband Gage, and Jacob Wesley Taliaferro; great-grandchildren Weston Vaughn, Millie Jane Breshears, and Charlie Gage Breshears; children, Jesse Walker and Justin Walker and their grandchildren and great grandchildren, Silas , Mason, Rosalie, Jace, his sister, Linda Sue King and husband James of Oklahoma City; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will include Darren Culley, Jason King, Eric Taliaferro, Jim Ed King, Ty Taliaferro, and Gage Beshears. Honorary bearers are Jimmy Taliaferro, Errol Taliaferro, Paul Willingham, James King, Mike Shurley, John Burton, Steven McIntyre, Michael Cathey, Alan Jones, Monte Willingham, Steve Taliaferro, Johnny Taliaferro. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
