Ringling- Services for Mr. Charlie Dale Skinner, 88, of Ringling are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery Pavilion with Lafon Glenn and John Harris officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
Charlie was born Dec. 30, 1932 at Oscar to the late Green Berry Skinner and Nettie (Cox) Skinner. He departed this life on Wed. March 24, 2021 at his daughter Karen's home of Ringling, which was formerly Charlie and Lavada's.
Charlie was primarily raised at Oscar residing there most of his years, living some of his childhood years at Forestburg, TX. He married the former Lavada Hicks on June 6, 1950 at Nocona, TX. They were blessed with three children, Mike, Karen and Debbie. Charlie worked for W.H. Metzner Oil Co. of Wichita Falls, TX as a roustabout for 42 years. He also was employed for Jefferson County District II for 14 years. He and Lavada moved from Oscar to the town of Ringling in 1991. Lavada passed away on January 31, 2012 and Charlie remained in Ringling, always staying busy in his garden and building projects.
Later, Charlie married the former Martha McHale on Feb. 7, 2015 at the Gospel Tabernacle of Ringling. They have enjoyed residing together in Ringling and being with their families. Charlie always stayed busy and enjoyed being outside fishing, gardening, and farming and ranching.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 61 years, Lavada; son, Mike Skinner on May 1, 2012; brothers, John Earl, T.G., Eligie, Joe, Rube and Gilbert and sisters Ruby and Laura Ellen.
Survivors include his wife Martha Ruth (Reid) Skinner of the home; daughters, Karen Ryan of Ringling and Debbie Williams and husband Doug of Nocona, TX. daughter in law, Donna Skinner-Black of Ringling; sister, Annie Bailey of Mabank, TX; grandchildren, Chris and wife Kim, Doni and husband Jon, Scott and wife Summer, Steve and wife Deanna, Kyle and wife Janea, Laurie and husband Brock, Heather and husband Michael; special granddaughter, Mikayla Phillips McCoy; great grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter, Logan, Case, Madison, Preston, Paige, Easton, Andrew, Addie, Emma, Noah, Jack, Breanna and Kate; great great granddaughter, Ayla Rose; numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
Casket bearers are Chris Williams, Steve Williams, Scott Skinner, Kyle Skinner, Case Tolliver, Easton Tolliver and Preston Williams.
Honorary bearers are Jack Skinner, Noah Terkelsen and Andrew Terkelsen.
Family visitation will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm Sunday at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
