Lone Grove – Services for Clarence Edward "JR" Morriss, 66, of Lone Grove are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel at Wilson with Bro. Billy Holder officiating. Interment will follow at the West Memorial Cemetery in Lone Grove. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

JR was born to the late Mr. Clarence Edward Morriss Sr. and Mrs. LuEllen Goldie (Kennedy) Morriss on September 9, 1955 at Childress, TX. He departed from this life Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Oklahoma City.

JR was born in Childress, TX, but during his childhood he was raised in many places including Texas, California, Iowa and Oklahoma. After he returned to Oklahoma he entered the Army where he remained in active duty for six years. JR met the love of his life, Carolyn Miller and later the couple were married at the Bonham Lake in Bonham, TX on June 18, 1983. He managed a Dairy Queen for many years and then returned to make their home in Oklahoma. JR worked at Joe Roberts Welding in Ringling for around 10 years and ended his work career at Lone Grove Discount Hardware where he had been employed for around 20 years, retiring in 2020. He loved spending time with his children but loved even more spending time with his grandchildren. JR had a passion for Classic Cars and mechanic work. He loved traveling with his family especially taking trips down Route 66.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Jeremy Scott Morriss in 1997; brothers, Danny Morriss and Freddie Lynn Morriss; sister, Sue Bailey; Father-in-law, Calvin Jones; Brother-in-law, Ernie Jones and a very special uncle, George Morriss.

Survivors include wife, Carolyn Morriss of the home; son, Jerrel Miller and fiance Hillary Farmer of Lone Grove; daughter, Jamie Miller and fiance Dustin Brackeen of Wilson; grandchildren, Liam "Louie" Miller, Monica Parks and husband Taylor, Makina Brackeen, Wyatt "Wyatt Earp" Parsons, and Trevor Lach; great grandchildren, Reagan Fox, Brayden Parks and Harper Parks; Mother-in-law, Christine Jones of Lone Grove; siblings, Carolyn Ellis of Shenandoah, Iowa, Georgia Hurst and husband Butch, Sonny Morriss and wife Joyce and Larry Morriss all of Ringling, Nancy Jackson of Lone Grove, Franny Thompson and husband Larry of Bailey, TX, George Morriss and wife Sandy of Wilson, Cindy Orr of Bailey, TX; sisters-in-law, Rhea Morriss and DeeDee Morriss both of Ringling; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Wyatt Earp, Jerrel Miller, Dustin Brackeen, Freddie Morriss Jr., Bobby Hurst, Steve Gilbert, Michael Morriss and Tyler Barnes,

Honorary Bearers are his brothers, Sonny Morriss, Larry Morriss, George Henry Morriss; good friends, James Barber, Jerry Green, and Nelson Mauthe.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson.
