Donald “Richard” Airington, age 74, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1951, in Enid, Oklahoma, to the late Levi Perry Airington and Dovie Lucille (Renfro) Airington.

Richard spent his early years in Chino, California, before relocating to Frederick, Oklahoma, in 1965. At the age of 16, he began working to help support his family, and at 17, he married Nelda Keltner on June 23, 1969, in Vernon, Texas. The couple resided there until moving to the Ardmore area in 1992. Richard worked as a truck driver for Joe Brown before retiring. Following retirement, he dedicated himself to his role as a devoted Poppy and took pride in his Choctaw heritage. He enjoyed spending time at home and watching television.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Eva Lowe, Gail Morris, Alice Teague, and Lillis White.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Nelda Airington; daughters Donya Laferr and her husband Mark of Ardmore, and Kami Bennett of Ardmore; grandchildren Nick Airington, Jake Laferr, Kylie Dover and her husband James, and Khloe Bennett; brothers Levi Airington, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Ernie Airington and his wife Wilma of Oklahoma City, and Travis Airington and his wife Becky of Altus; sisters LaDonna Turner of Roosevelt, Oklahoma, and Sherry Braddock and her husband Mark of Frederick; in-laws Raymond and Ruby Blankenship of Frederick; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Hewitt Cemetery, with Greg Simpson officiating. Services are under the care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
