Eddie "Don" Burton, 83, of Velma, passed away on July 10, 2026, in Oklahoma City, OK. Cremation services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
Born on May 16, 1943, to the late Mr. Francis "Frank" Burton and Mrs. Lavada (Skeen) Mills, Don grew up in the Ringling and Loco area and attended school in Ringling. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1965, receiving an honorable discharge in 1967. On November 15, 1968, he married Deanna Kaye Smith in Ardmore, OK, and they settled in Velma. Don dedicated his career to the oilfield, working with Vi-Roy for about 10 years and operating his own vacuum truck. He also worked for Joe Roberts Welding. Don had a passion for team roping, fishing, camping, and watching his grandchildren rodeo. He loved restoring antique cars, especially his '89 Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Rene Sullivan, Juanita Keenan, Penny Nichols; brother Buford Burton; and sister-in-law Faye Morgan.
Don is survived by his wife, Deanna; his son, Eddie Burton; daughter, Darla Wright and Rex Vandagriff; five grandchildren, Denver Kilcrease, Emily Kilcrease, Cherokee Wright, Gus Burton, and Kaydie Brown; nine great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; sisters, Jessie Southerland and husband Jackie and Louise Chandler and husband Earl; sisters in law, Joyce Davis and Darlene Foster; and many other family members and friends.
