Services for Ernest “Ernie” Greer Brooks, 70, of Springer, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Milo Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston and Zach Kullberg officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 P.M., at Allen Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Ernie was born January 26, 1956, at Phoenix, AZ, to the late Mr. Jim C. Brooks and Mrs. Shirley (Lucke) Brooks. He departed this life Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Oklahoma City.
Ernie’s journey began in Casa Grande, Arizona, where he spent his early years, later moving with his family to Chandler, Arizona. His roots were firmly planted when he returned to Stonewall, a place where he would eventually graduate from high school in 1974. Among his academic achievements, Ernie was especially proud of being named “student of the month” during his senior year—a testament to his diligence and integrity from an early age. Shortly after graduating, Ernie embraced the value of hard work by joining Arthur Johnson. This opportunity opened the door to experiences beyond his hometown, as he assisted with the wheat harvest, traveling and gaining an appreciation for both hard labor and new adventures. Ernie’s life was filled with meaningful relationships. He married Cathy Hopkins, and together they celebrated the birth of their son, Ernest Chad Brooks. The family settled in the area, with Ernie employed at Arrow Pump. When faced with the adversity of job loss, Ernie’s entrepreneurial spirit shone through. In 1989, he started Venture Pipe & Supply at Ratliff City, a venture that grew impressively—at its height, the business expanded to seven different locations. Ernie never shied away from opportunity, always pressing forward with determination and optimism. On June 24, 1999, he married Connie Sanders in Wilson. She was a cherished partner until her passing on August 24, 2014. Despite this profound loss, Ernie continued to seek happiness and found it again when he married Geneva Weaver on July 23, 2016, in Vail, Colorado. Together, Ernie and Geneva made their home between Texas and Oklahoma, sharing precious days and memories. Ernie was known for his love of life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer, an enthusiastic traveler, and a devoted viewer of Country Texas Reporter. Those who knew him best will remember him as a kind soul, someone who always preferred doing business with a handshake and worked to ensure everyone he met felt welcomed, valued, and loved.
Preceding him in death are his father, Jim C. Brooks; mother, Shirley Brooks; son, Chad Brooks; wife, Connie (Sanders) Brooks.
Survivors include his wife Geneva Brooks and son, Bralyn Weaver of the home; brother, Danny Brooks and wife Sandy of Wilson; sisters, Annavee Kullberg and husband Andy of Greely, CO, and Sheila Sherman of Brighton, CO; grandchildren, Keely Sykes, Brian Shelton, Jax Weaver, Jhett Weaver, Khloe Weaver, and Nathan Zon; other family, Tisha Ford, Bobby Shelton, Ty Weaver, and Jared Weaver; numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Brooks, Jake Brooks, Trevor Kullberg, Sam Kullberg, Zach Kullberg, and Jacob Brooks.
Honorary bearers are Mark Rose, Mike Osborne, Billy Wilkinson, Jeret Higgs, and the late Ron Strahan.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 P.M, Wednesday evening, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Bethany Children’s Health Center in memory of Ernie and Chad Brooks at 6800 NW 39th Expy Bethany, OK 73008.
