Graveside Services with Military Honors for Fred A. Wright, 87 are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., June 16, 2026, at Newport Cemetery with Nathan Christian officiating. Services are under the care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. Fred passed into his eternal life on June 11, 2026. He was born on March 14, 1939, in Marietta, Oklahoma.
Fred graduated from Rexroat High School in 1957 and later served his country in the United States Army. He was a farmer through and through, a man of deep strength, steady character, and endless resourcefulness. There was not a thing Fred could not fix, and he lived his life as a shining example of how to love, teach, protect, and care for family.
Fred found joy in the meaningful things in life. He loved creating and listening to music and was often known to sing silly songs to pester his grandchildren and make them grin. He could hardly pass a garage sale and loved a good auction. He was an avid reader, enjoyed watching old westerns, and had a true gift for growing things. He especially took pride in his garlic.
More than anything, Fred will be remembered for the full life he lived - one filled with laughter, wisdom, stories, and love.
Fred is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Jean Brewer Wright; his son, Kris Wright and wife Gladys of Arlington, Texas, and grandson Taka Wright of Arlington, Texas; his daughter, Kim Cooper and husband Brett of Dickson, Oklahoma; grandson Joshua Ballard of Edmond, Oklahoma; granddaughter Emily Graham and husband Bailey and great-granddaughter Piper Graham of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandson Deven Cooper of Choctaw, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Kenneth Walker of El Paso, Texas; and niece Stella Walker of Plano, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Wright and Rosie Myrine Henderson Wright; his sister, Lois Faye Walker; his niece, Jeannie Faye Walker; and his grandson, Dax Cooper.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Gunter, Joseph Gunter, Bailey Graham, Deven Cooper, Joshua Ballard, and Kaleab Hodges.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-7 P.M., at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. Online condolences may be made at www.alexandergrayfh.com.
Fred's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
