Gale Black

February 16, 1937 — December 24, 2024

Gale Black, born February 16, 1937, to the late Mr. P.D. Black and Mrs. Minnie (Carnahan) Black, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024 at 87. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work. Gale was raised in Courtney, OK, and graduated from Courtney High School in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Charlene Thorpe, and during their 59 years of marriage, they raised their children: Donnie, Sharon, Scott, and Stacy. Their family also expanded to include grandchildren Chris and Theresa, whom they lovingly helped raise. A dedicated farmer, Gale found joy in his work, whether it was tending to his cattle or nurturing his pecan orchard. He had a passion for fishing, often spending tranquil days by the water, relishing the simple pleasures of life. 

Gale was also a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Ringling, OK. After the passing of Charlene in 2014, Gale married Donna Skinner in 2016, moving into her home where they continued to build a life rich in love and companionship. Gale will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and his church, his hard work on the farm, and his warm spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

 Preceding him in his death are his parents; late wife, Charlene; son, Terry; brother, Billy Joe Watkins; and sister, Carol Chapman.

 Survivors include wife, Donna Black, children Donnie Black, Sharon Black, Scott Black, and Stacy Feiertag; stepchildren Doni Tolliver and husband, Jon, Scott Skinner and wife, Summer, Kyle Skinner, and wife, Janea; grandchildren Chris Black and wife, Michela, Theresa Black, Monte' Black, Chausse' Freeman, Kalie Feiertag, and Tyler Feiertag; step-grandchildren Hunter Tolliver, Logan Roberts and husband, Jakus, Case Tolliver and wife, Olivia, Easton Tolliver, Emma Skinner, Jack Skinner, and Kate Skinner; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. 

 Pallbearers are Charlie Burk, Cody Hudspeth, Ernie Marshall, Dewayne McCarty, Dale Riley, Bobby Tolliver, Allen Wade, and Dustin Weatherly.

 Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny Higdon and Cecil Britt.

 Visitation will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ringling. Following visitation, services will be held at 3 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ in Ringling with Brother Ronnie Carroll and Brother Lafon Glenn officiating the services. Interment will follow at Bellville-Bourland Cemetery in Courtney.
