Healdton - Funeral services for Mr. Gary Don Lytle, 69, of Healdton are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton, with Clint Walker and Pat Love officiating. Interment will follow at the Provence Cemetery, where Mr. Lytle will be honored with military honors. The services are under the direction of the Alexander Gray Funeral Home.
Gary was born on July 8, 1955, in Abilene, Texas, to Owen Shelby and Jean (Armstrong) Lytle. He departed this life on September 16, 2024, in Healdton.
Raised primarily in Maud after moving there during his junior year of high school, Gary pursued higher education at Seminole Junior College before joining the United States Navy. He served honorably for two years aboard the USS Fiske and subsequently began a lifelong career in the oilfield industry.
On July 20, 1996, he married Karen Sue Thompson in Gainesville, Texas. Together, they created many wonderful memories while residing in Healdton. Gary dedicated most of his career to environmental clean-up as an Oil Spill Response Organization (OSRO), making significant contributions to A Clean Environment in Wilson, where he earned numerous certifications and accreditations. His love for the water and boating were hallmarks of his life.
An accomplished musician, Gary played multiple instruments, including the accordion from the age of nine. Music was an integral part of his daily life. Known affectionately as "Pops" to friends and coworkers, he was respected and loved by all who knew him. Gary will be remembered for his honor, integrity, and the positive impact he had on those around him.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Owen Lytle; brother, Danny Owen “D.O.” Lytle; and nephew, Levi Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; mother, Jean Lytle of Maud; children, Eric Don Lytle, Bryan Adams, Misty Lytle, Cody Adams and wife Jessica, and Shane Lytle and wife Kourtney; niece Chase Hamman and husband Daniel; grandchildren, Erica Lytle, Dylan Adams, Austin Milor, and Korbyn Adams; mother-in-law, Wanda Embrey, whom he affectionately referred to as “Mama Peach”; one great-grandchild, Marvin Simon; nephew, Jason Lytle and wife Renee, along with their children Rylie, Ashlynd, and Axel; great-nephew, Paxton Thompson; and numerous other family members and friends.
Casket bearers include Clay Harwell, Micky Miles, Derick Losson, Devan “Spike” Losson, Mitchell Ingram, Bill Dunn, Rob Walker, Craig Barbour, P.G. Grace, and Joseph Brown.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
