Memorial Inurnment Services for Gaylord LaVerne Hart, 80 of Burneyville, OK are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery in Ardmore, OK with Darrell Holland officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home and Crematory in Wilson.
Gaylord was born April 6, 1946, in Gillingham, Wisconsin to the late Mr. Wilfred William Hart and Mrs. Ruby Fern (Stockwell) Hart. He departed from this life on Friday, June 26, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
Gaylord was raised in Wisconsin where he graduated high school at Ithaca, WI. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1964 and served two tours in Vietnam as a security policeman. Gaylord was honorably discharged in 1971. He married Barbara Jean Schmidt on July 23, 1971, at Sisseton, South Dakota. They lived in Wisconsin until moving to Fort Worth in 1982 and later relocating to Love County in 1992. In 1993, together they made their home in Burneyville, OK. Gaylord drove an over the road truck for 36 years, retiring from J.B. Hunt in 2012 when he received his million-mile award. He loved gardening, ice fishing, hunting, and going to the casinos.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Wilfred Allen Hart and a brother-in-law, Craig Smith.
Gaylord is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Hart of the home; sons, Paul William Hart, Willie Hart, and Bradley Dillon Hart; daughter in law, Stephanie; brothers, Willard Hart and wife Vicki, David Hart and spouse Kim Ewing, and Darwin Hart; sisters, Vicki Hamielec and husband Jeff and Janet Smith; grandchildren, Kailyn Hart, Jordan Hart, Peyton Hart, and Silas Hart; great grandchildren, Roman Anthony Weehunt; and by a host of other family and friends.
Honorary bearers will be Chance Tynes, Ed Thornton, Paul Hart, Willie Hart, Bradley Hart, and Silas Hart.
