Ringling – A homegoing celebration for Gene Jackson of Courtney, Oklahoma, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, at the Ringling Apostolic Church with Bro. Billy Holder and Bro. Paul Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
Gene was born on Sept. 23, 1939, to the late W.F. Jackson and Ola (Roach) Jackson. He was reunited with his late wife, Virginia, on Dec. 10, 2025, at the age of 86 years old.
Gene was raised in Pike and Simon. After a short “courtship,” he married Virginia Ellen Albin on Nov. 12, 1960, at the Gospel Tabernacle in Ringling after an evening service, and they made their home in Courtney. Gene attended the Ringling Apostolic Church, where he and Virginia helped start and were the last surviving founders.
Gene was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He served on the Southern Oklahoma Peanut Growers Association Wilson Cooperative board of directors, and Ringling School Board for 12 years, including serving as president. Also, he helped found the Courtney Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief and on the advisory board.
Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; stepmother, Belvie Jackson; brothers Lloyd Jackson, Elvin Jackson and J.M. Jackson; sisters Lucille Sloan and Christine Jones; son-in-law, Gary Taylor; and granddaughter, Jessica Jackson.
Survivors include his four children – Paul Jackson and wife, Kim, of Courtney; Pennye (Jackson) Taylor of Gainesville, Texas and fiancé, Cavan Cash of Duncan; Randall Jackson and wife, Bonnie, of Courtney; and Regina (Jackson) McClendon and husband, Rob, of Edmond; eight grandchildren – Garin Taylor and fiancé, Julia; Whitney Taylor and fiancé, Braden; Courtney Jackson; Sarah Eblen and husband, Jordan; Braden Jackson and wife, Lyssa; Caitlyn Taylor; Addie and Allie Jackson; two great granddaughters Kendall and Drew Jackson, and one on the way; sister-in-law, JoAnne Albin of Lavon, Texas; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Braden Jackson, Garin Taylor, Dale Riley, Larry Don Blankenship, Sonny Stewart and Austin Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Jackson, Larry Gilcrease, Robert Simons, Jacqueline Grant, Michael Morris, Brent Wade, Zane Gray, Blick Black, Forest Watson, Chance Tynes, Lezlie Hacker, Kerry Blankenship and Harvey Stewart.
Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ringling Apostolic Church, 211 9th St. in Ringling.
