Graveside inurnment services for Gene Jensen will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Alma Cemetery, with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. The services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
Gene was born on April 22, 1941, in Pooleville, OK, to the late Harry D. Long and Lora Almeada (Kennedy) Long. He peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Duncan, OK.
Raised primarily in Countyline, Gene attended local schools in Countyline, Alma and Velma. On April 23, 1962, he married Delores Ann Briscoe in Wichita Falls, TX, and together they established their home in the Velma area. Gene dedicated much of his career to the oilfield and also worked as an over-the-road truck driver. He had a passion for football, particularly as a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and OU Softball. Gene enjoyed motorcycle riding, skeet shooting, and camping at Lake Murray. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his grandchildren and family. A lifelong member of Countyline Baptist Church, Gene's faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Delores Ann Jensen, who passed on March 14, 2015; his son, Darry Jay "DJ" Jensen, who left us on July 2, 2008; and his grandmother, Ruby Pierce, whom he regarded as a mother.
He is survived by his daughters, Jamie Carroll of Duncan and Kelley Helmert of Wilburton; sons, Jeremy Jensen of Wilburton and Doug Jensen with his wife Celeste of Velma; as well as 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends.
