Celebration of life services for Harold "Mudd" Leon Means, 85, of Ardmore, will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home chapel of Wilson, with Rev. Kirk Rushing officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson. 

"Mudd" was born September 20, 1941, in Fillmore, CA., to Henry Harold Means and Mozelle (Kinman) Means. He departed this life on September 23, 2026, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Mudd was raised in Porterville, California, where he graduated from Porterville High School with the class of 1959.  Attending Ventura College in 1962 and in 1987 attending the University of Minnesota. He carried with him a lifelong love of learning, working with his hands, and serving the communities he called home. As a young man, Mudd loved cars and especially enjoyed spending time with his father trying to fix them up. That practical skill and curiosity remained with him throughout his life. He had a remarkable gift for being able to fix anything electrical, a talent that shaped both his career and the way he was known by those around him. Mudd began his career with 3M Manufacturing on January 20, 1964. Over the course of 34 years, and 10 months, he served as an electrical engineer before retiring in November 1998. During his years with 3M, his work took him to many places, including South America and Italy. He also had the ability to invent different items for the company, reflecting both his creativity and technical skill. His long career stood as a testament to his intelligence, dedication, and inventive spirit. Beyond his work, Mudd had many interests that brought him great enjoyment. He was passionate about the outdoors and spent cherished time hunting and fishing. His hobbies included flint knapping and building American Indian Replicas of arrowheads and knives. These pursuits reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship, history, and the natural world. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA and served as President of the Lockwood Valley Historical Society. In 2004, Mudd moved to Oklahoma and began a new chapter of life. He married Molly McCurry on October 13, 2007, at the Gene Autry Birdsong Wedding Cottage. In his adopted community, he continued to give generously of his time and energy. He served as a driver for SORT, becoming so familiar with the area that he learned every address in Carter County. He also was a member of the U.S. Census, continuing his pattern of dependable public service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mozelle Means: his late wife, Caroline Means (December 23, 2002); brothers, Stanley Means and Steve Hughes.

He is survived by his wife, Molly Means; daughters, Cammie Livingston (Eric); Seandee Means (Cliff); sons, Jason Means (Christie) and Levi Southerland; Grandchildren, Forrest, Alec, Samantha, James, Autumn, and Heidi Southerland, Christiana, David, Andrew, Benjaman and Sophia Livingston; Sister, Sandi Striegal; brother, Mark "Huck" Means; loving nephew, Casey Means; numerous other family and friends.
