Howard Russell Murray

Howard Russell Murray was born on April 10, 1972, in Bakersfield, California, to John Russell Murray and Donna Sue (Pritchett) Murray. On August 15, 2026, Howard departed this life in Duncan at the age of 54, leaving behind a legacy defined by hard work, kindness, and a deep devotion to family and friends.

Howard spent his childhood in Healdton, where he attended school and built the foundation for his lifelong love of hands-on work and mechanical pursuits. From a young age, he entered the oilfield industry working with many companies over the years, embracing a variety of roles, but he often spoke with particular pride of his time working under Jerry White and his experiences as a derrick hand on drilling rigs. In addition to his career in the oilfield, Howard was a gifted mechanic. Whether it was cars or anything with a motor, he enjoyed the challenge of tinkering and repair. Many hours were spent around the yard, under the hood of a car, or down by the river, with a fishing rod in hand, the joy in these simple pastimes was evident to all who knew him. Howard also cherished the thrill of motorcycles and was always searching for the perfect ride to satisfy his need for speed. Above all else, Howard was a devoted father and grandfather, taking great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren everything he knew. He shared twenty years of his life alongside Brenda Ramsey, the mother of his two sons. Howard’s presence was an inspiration to many; he met life’s challenges with grit and perseverance, never shying away from hard work and always offering a helping hand. Though Howard’s journey has come to an end much too soon, his influence and memory will live on in the hearts of all those he touched.

Preceding him in death are his father, John Russell Murray and his brother, Ewell Murray.

Survivors include his children, Kristan Murray and fiancé John Christie of Elmore City, John Murray of Healdton, and Howard Russell Murray of Healdton; mother, Donna Sue Murray of Wilson; grandchildren, Kaylee Grice, Carson Grice, Brently Hodges, Terry Hodges, and Bayleigh Hodges; special friends he thought of as brothers, Terry Brown and Scott McGavern; special friend he thought of as a son, Jorden Robertson; numerous other family and many friends.
