Joe was born June 12, 1943, at Orr, OK, to the late Mr. Seaton Anderson Abshire and Mrs. Rosie Lee (Farris) Abshire. He departed this life July 4, 2025, at his home in Alma.

Joe's early years in Orr shaped him into the man he became. He completed his education at Ringling and subsequently embarked on a lifelong career that began at a local feed mill. From those humble beginnings, he transitioned into the oilfield, where he dedicated countless years of labor, eventually building a reputable business known as Abshire Well Service in 1985. His commitment and perseverance culminated in a well-deserved retirement in 2004, although Joe continued to stay connected to the oilfield by managing a lease for a period afterward. On June 9, 1969, Joe's life took a turn when he married the love of his life, Brenda Wilson, in Gainesville, Texas. Together, they forged a beautiful partnership, initially establishing their home in West Texas before settling in Alma, where they created a nurturing environment filled with love and support. They shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Beyond his professional endeavors, Joe held a deep passion for the great outdoors. He found joy in coon hunting, coyote hunting, fishing, and camping. Many will fondly remember the camping trips where Joe would effortlessly pull his camper to various locations, creating unforgettable experiences with family and friends along the way. He leaves behind countless memories that will be treasured by those who knew him.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Seaton and Rosie Lee.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda of the home; daughter, Kayla Durgin and husband Jeremy of Lawton; sons, Darren Abshire and wife Kayla of Marlow, and Joe Volenstine of Arizona; grandchildren, Kaeden Abshire, Riley Abshire, Draygin Durgin, and Chasady Lynch; numerous other extended family and friends.
