Ivron Royce
McClendon, Sr.
Oct 24, 1943 — Aug 16, 2026
Homegoing services for Rev. Ivron Royce McClendon, Sr., 82, of Lone Grove will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Lone Grove, officiated by Bro. Steve Robinson. Interment will follow at Newport Cemetery, north of Lone Grove, directed by Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
Royce was born on October 24, 1943, in Ardmore to the late Mr. Ivron "Mac" E. McClendon and Mrs. Lola Mae (Morgan) McClendon. He received his heavenly reward on Sunday morning, August 16, 2026, in Oklahoma City.
Raised in Wilson, Royce attended school there before moving to Plainview in his freshman year and graduating from Plainview High School in 1961. On August 11, 1962, he married Shirley Kyle at Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Rex Weatherman. Royce worked for many years at the Daube Ranch as a cowboy and dozer operator and later at Ardmore City Schools as a custodian.
As a young man, after attending a revival at Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church, he surrendered to the Lord and answered God's call to become a minister. He ministered and shared the Gospel, ultimately serving as pastor of Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church for over 20 years.
Royce had a love for guns, enjoyed shooting and trading them with his friends, and coon hunting in his younger days. He was dedicated to attending his grandchildren's events and was a devoted family and church man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Belinda Ann McClendon, brothers Danny and Bobby McClendon, brothers-in-law Eddie Kyle and Larry Kyle, and nephew Steve Shores.
Survivors include his wife Shirley; daughter Tracy Southerland of Lone Grove; son Ivron Royce McClendon, Jr. and wife Andrea of Lone Grove; sister Barbara Brown of Ardmore; grandchildren, whom they raised as their own, Allen McClendon and wife Maggie of Oklahoma City, Tayler Spooner and husband Michael, Hollie Davis and husband Dalton, and Colton Southerland and wife Alli, all of Lone Grove; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous other family, church family, and friends.
Casket bearers will be Colton Southerland, Graythan McClendon, Colbie McClendon, Justin Kyle, Dalton Davis, Michael Spooner, Mike Shores, and Mark Shores. Honorary bearers are Preston Richardson, Paiytn Richardson, Trinity Polzien, Owen Hoggard, Rhett Davis, and Kaylee McClendon.
Family visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
