James was born on November 1, 1944, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Bertha Brown. He passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on May 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by hard work, love for his family, and a passion for the outdoors.

A proud graduate of Graham High School, James devoted much of his professional life to the oilfield construction industry. He not only honed his skills while working for Brady’s for nearly 26 years but also realized his entrepreneurial dreams by owning his own business in the field. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends, with whom he shared many wonderful moments. James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a particular fondness for gardening, always eager to nurture plants and share the fruits of his labor. His love of nature extended to hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to spend time outdoors and enjoy the serenity that came with it.

James is survived by his wife, Sue of 60 years, his daughter Kelly Allen of Noble, daughter Missy Ross and husband Joey of Lone Grove, son Jeffrey Brown and wife Melissa of Davis. After the passing of their daughter Tammy on December 6th, 1990, they were blessed to be able to raise their two grandkids Dustin and Heather who held a cherished place in their hearts and home. He had 11 beloved grandkids, Dustin Farmer of Milo, Lacey Davenport and husband Chanse of Davis, Heather Fox and husband Shane of Lone Grove, Colton Allen of Davis, Hannah Meldau and husband Cody of Lone Grove, Jaley Lawson and husband Hunter of Ada, Lane Ross of Lone Grove, Jared Brown and wife Rylie of Shawnee, J.T. Allen of Ardmore, Carson Allen of Springer, and Jordan Brown of Ada. The greatest joy in his life was spending time with his great grandkids, Ryder and Cooper Davenport, Reed and Kade Fox, Lilly Meldau, Everett Lawson, and Kaylynn Brown. He is also survived by three sisters, Bettye Hendricks, Gaylene Dewbre, Loyce Dean, and one brother Jack Brown.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Brown (Farmer), by his parents Clarence and Bertha Brown, 3 infant siblings, and his parents-in-law Fred and Lillian Duncan. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his devoted sister Gaylene and niece Sherry who helped care for him in his final days.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Farmer, Colton Allen, Lane Ross, Jared Brown, J.T. Allen, and Carson Allen.

Honorary bearers are Josh Glenn and James’ five great grandsons- Ryder, Reed, Cooper, Kade, and Everett.

Family visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M., Sunday, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton.
