Ardmore—A service for Mr. James "Jay" LaVoy Bray, 91, of Ardmore, is scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the River of Life Pentecostal Church of Wilson. Officiating the service will be Bro. Dewain Duck and Bro. Jim Duck, with interment at Newport Cemetery near Lone Grove, led by Bro. Dan Stewart. Arrangements are under the care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Jay was born on October 24, 1934, in Deese, OK, to David "Dave" Cornelius Bray and Vera Georgia (Forguson) Bray. He passed away on September 13, 2026, at home in Ardmore. Raised in Deese, Jay began his working life in the Wheat harvest and cotton picking. He later became a cowboy and worked in the oilfield. Jay later joined the Ardmore refinery, working the night shift while simultaneously managing a daytime workload. Eventually, he launched his own business, "Brays Construction," following his acquisition of a backhoe. He retired from the refinery in 1983 but continued in construction until July 2021. Jay cherished work, cattle ranching, cowboy life, and hunting. He was a devoted member of the River of Life Pentecostal Church.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Roy, Ed, Lanny, Bill, and C.W. "Keg"; sisters Marge, Opal, Lou, Glenda, and Carolyn; and son-in-law Richard Robinson.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children, Tony Bray (Rhonda), Janna Robinson, and Brian Bray (Amy); grandchildren Kristi Inselman, Rachel Bray, Kimberly Vines, Aaron Bray, Miranda Livingston, and Jay Bray; numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; alongside extended family and friends.

Casket bearers include Blake Rudd, Chris Bray, Logan Converse, Jay Bray, Lance McCarty, and Hunter Inselman. 

Honorary bearers are Aaron Bray, Kevin Inselman, Jacob Vines IV, and Jacob Vines V.

Family visitation is set for Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson.
