Memorial Services for James Douglas Slawson, age 15, of Mannford, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, officiated by Rev. Jason Williams.
James was born on September 2, 2010, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Roy James Slawson and Rachael Lea Swearingim. He passed away on May 15, 2026, in Mannford, Oklahoma.
He spent his younger years in Ringling before moving to Mannford, where he spent the last four years. In Mannford, James participated in football, track, and wrestling. He loved anything outdoors— fishing, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, mudding, and working on anything with a motor. James especially loved big lifted trucks and was always interested in mechanical work and making things his own. He also enjoyed playing video games, especially Grand Theft Auto, with his brother Hunter and his dad.
Known for his caring heart, quiet leadership, and easygoing personality, James was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He had a goofy sense of humor, a kind spirit, and a way of making people laugh without even trying. He brought light to the people around him and was deeply loved by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Nina Slawson; maternal grandmothers, Linda Rhodes and Vickie McDonald; uncle, Jason Lee Bethea; and cousin, Jason Michael Bethea.
James was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend.
He is survived by his father, Roy Slawson; mother, Rachael Swearingim; siblings, Jacklyn Minyard, Jayci Acosta, Jayden Slawson, Lane Swearingim, Sarah Buss, Naomi Buss, and Hunter Slawson; nieces and nephews, Caspian, Jaycelynn, Na’zyri, and Calypso; grandparents, Lee and Sharon Swearingim; special aunt, Renee; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Pallbearers will be Roy Slawson, Hunter Slawson, Chase Minyard, Jacob Robinson, Lane Swearingim, and Jayden Slawson. Honorary bearers include Jacklyn Minyard, Jayci Acosta, Kevin Butcher, Jayden Acosta, and Lee Swearingim.
The family welcomes those attending to wear camo, purple, or baby blue in honor and remembrance of James.
