Ringling - Funeral Services for Mrs. Jean (McKinnon) Lester, 84, are scheduled for 10:00 am Monday Sept. 27, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Ringling with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
Jean was born on Oct. 11, 1936 at Orr to the late Mr. William "Bill" Norman McKinnon and Mrs. Gladys Mae "Choc" (Hagood) McKinnon. She departed this life on Wed. Sept. 22, 2021 at the Wilson Nursing Home.
Jean was raised at Orr attending her initial school years there, later moving to Ringling where she graduated High School in 1955. Jean continued to reside at Ringling where she owned and operated a Beauty Salon as well as being an instructor of the Aladdin Beauty College of Ardmore. She moved to Durant in 1989, where she attended college receiving a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and later received a Masters Degree in Psychology from OU. Jean worked as a psychologist for the Oklahoma Dept. of Corrections for over 20 years. She retired from the Howard McLoud Correctional facility in 2012. She resided at Farris, OK until 2015 when her health declined. Jean was a past member of the First Baptist Church of Ringling and was a current member of the Harmony Baptist Church. Jean loved redbirds and was a devoted Christian.
Preceding her in death are parents; Bill and Choc McKinnon.
Survivors include her daughter, Shay Barnes and husband Karlen of Ringling; sons, Dennis Rich and wife Lynda of Antlers and Joe Lester and wife Tisha of Reck; 9 grandchildren, Sasha Barnes, Cheyenne Barnes, Ryan Lester and Fiancé Torey Weder, Cierra Barnes, Lucas Lester and wife Ravyn, Maxwell Rich, Whitney Lester, Jessica Lester and Nash Lester; 6 great grandchildren, Dasia Bracken, Eden Bracken, Kenneth Barnes, Kenlyn Camp, George Barnes and Strayz Lester; numerous other family and friends.
Casket bearers are Maxwell Rich, Ryan Lester, Lucas Lester, Nash Lester, Colton Colbert and Bobby Bracken.
Family visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
