Services for Jerry Wayne Blackman, 86, of Healdton, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery in Stephens County.
Jerry was born December 16, 1939, at Healdton, to the late Mr. Glenn Blackman and Mrs. Mary Jo (Roberts) Hogue.
Raised in Healdton, Oklahoma, Jerry graduated from Healdton High School. He began his professional journey in the oilfield, where he demonstrated a diligent work ethic that would define his career. Jerry later moved to Newhall, California, where he worked alongside his cousin at a full-service station. It was during this time that Jerry met the former Ms. Katie Crane, a phone operator who worked the switchboard. Their love blossomed, and they were united in marriage, establishing a home in California. In a pivotal moment during their lives, the couple decided to return to Oklahoma after experiencing a devastating earthquake in 1971. Jerry resumed his career in the oilfield, working diligently in the Healdton area and in West Texas. His career eventually led him to become a Crane Operator for chemical plants, including the well-respected Valero. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry was known for his adventurous spirit. His love for the outdoors shone through in his passion for riding horses, making him an active member of the Cleberg County Trail Riding Association. Jerry was also a dedicated sports fan, with a keen interest in Dallas Cowboy and OU Sooner football. Music played an important role in his life as well; he often delighted in singing old Merle Haggard songs, sharing his joy with those around him. Most treasured by Jerry was the time he spent with his grandchildren. His warmth and love resonated through the moments they shared, creating lasting memories that will remain in their hearts forever.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Glenn and Mary Jo; wife, Katie; son, Robbie and an infant daughter.
Survivors include his sons, Brian Blackman and Darryl Blackman; stepdaughters, Sandra Swinney and Debra Crane; stepson, Vince Crane; sister, Glenda; grandchildren, Courtney Burch, Skylar Blackman, Shane Browning, Nicholas Browning, and Wesley Crane; numerous great grandchildren, other family, and many Friends.
Pallbearers will be Shane Browning, Skylar Blackman, Chance Roberts, Joe Mac Roberts, Jacob Rose, and Dusty Burch.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Thursday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton.
