Fox

Services for Jerry “Butch” Loyd Henderson, 79, of Fox, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.

Butch was born September 1, 1946, at Clemscott, OK, to the late Mr. Haskel Loyd Henderson and Mrs. Louie Leona (Wooten) Henderson. He departed this life Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Growing up at Convict Hill and Fox, Butch’s life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and the quiet joys of rural Oklahoma. From his earliest days, Butch’s roots were firmly planted in the community where he would spend his entire life. He attended Fox Public Schools and became a proud graduate of the class of 1964. Answering the call to serve his country, Butch joined the United States Air Force on May 11, 1966. His service during the Vietnam War was marked by courage, discipline, and commitment to his fellow servicemen. After serving his nation with honor for two years, he received an honorable discharge on June 10, 1968, and returned home. Upon returning to Fox, Butch married Ms. Vala Rushin and they were blessed with two sons. Butch worked tirelessly in the oil fields, primarily driving a truck and hauling crude oil—a rugged life that demanded both strength and skill. In the early 2000s, Butch retired from the oil fields but soon found meaningful work as a pumper for Citation, exemplifying his enduring work ethic. Even as he poured himself into his career, Butch’s heart was never far from the land. He took great pleasure in farming and ranching, finding peace and satisfaction in rural life. Perhaps nothing brought him more simple joy than fishing on Lake Texoma, where he could reflect and relax.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Haskel Loyd and Louie Leona Henderson; sisters, Lois Dean Thompson and Hattie Faye Mauldin; brothers, Orville Lee Whiiaker and Larry Joe Henderson.

Survivors include his sons, Keith Henderson and wife Amber of Lone Grove, Kerry Henderson and wife Monica of Fox; grandchildren, Lexi, Kallen, Madison, Logan, Emma, and Kayli; numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Byrd, Ray Smart, Ricky Joe Stewart, Kallen Henderson, Cody Johnson, and Logan McCurtain.

Honorary bearers are the entire Fox High School Class of 1964.
