Jimmy Ray Blodgett

Services for Jimmy Ray Blodgett, 81, of Wilson, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Reck cemetery in Wilson.

Jimmy was born June 28, 1945, at Post Oak, to the late Mr. John Lester Blodgett and Mrs. Beatrice (Whisenhunt) Blodgett. He departed this life September 25, 2026, at his home in Wilson.

Jim was raised south of Wilson. He attended school there and graduated from Wilson High School with the Class of 1964. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served on active duty for two years. He received his honorable discharge on September 27, 1967, then returned home and soon married the former Minnie Lou Brown. They were united in marriage on March 29, 1969, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jim spent his working years in the oilfield, dedicating his career to work over rigs. He was employed for many years by Forsythe Oilfield and later by Sutherlands Well Service. In addition to his oilfield work, he also managed cattle for Johnny Costello. He found happiness in the simple and enduring pleasures of life. Jim enjoyed fishing on the river and spending time in the woods. He liked cutting wood, tending a garden, and especially playing with his grandkids. Those who knew him will remember a man shaped by hard work, devotion to home, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Beatrice Blodgett; wife, Minnie Lou Blodgett on June 14, 2021; daughter, Misty (Blodgett) Dyrer on October 10, 2025; brothers, Charles and Jack Blodgett; sister, Anna Marie Blodgett.

Survivors include his son, Jody Blodgett and wife Kara of Wilson; grandchildren, Addison Blodgett and Jayden Blodgett; sisters, Margie Shepard and husband Don and Linda Sanders all of Wilson; sisters-in-law, Rondalynn Blodgett of Lone Grove and Darlene Gray of Ardmore; numerous other family and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Jaime Blodgett, Levi Shepard, Randy Shepard, Shawn Sanders, J.D. Blodgett, and Don Blodgett.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Thursday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
