Services for Joe Bob Bennett, 69, of Ardmore, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Ethan Cox and Charles Denney officiating. Interment will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery.
Joe Bob was born March 7, 1956, at Ardmore, to the late Mr. Clinton Bennett and Mrs. Alta Imogene “Jean” Bennett. He departed this life Friday, January 9, 2026, at Gainesville, TX.
Joe Bob was raised in Lone Grove where he attended school. Following his graduation in 1974, Joe Bob embarked on a significant career in the oilfield, where he dedicated many years of his life working diligently on motors on the Rig Floor along with numerous other positions. His work ethic and commitment during these formative years not only shaped his own career but also allowed him to connect with countless individuals in the industry who came to appreciate his kindness and diligence. Raised in a nurturing environment steeped in faith, Joe Bob was a steadfast believer throughout his life. His relationship with the church was paramount, molding his character and instilling in him a deep sense of purpose. He wanted to share the joy of his faith with others, which became a hallmark of his life. Those who had the privilege of knowing Joe Bob were often drawn to his passion for music. He was a talented musician, known for his skills on the bass and acoustic guitar, as well as his singing voice. Music resonated deeply within him, and he often could be found sharing his talent with others. Joe Bob played in various local venues with his band “Stone Creek” and other musical groups, but his most cherished role was as the bass player at his church. Through his music, he brought joy to many and expressed his love for Jesus, creating an atmosphere of worship that will forever be remembered. Joe Bob was not just a musician; he was a social soul, always eager to connect with people from all walks of life. His infectious joy and compassion for others left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. His big heart was evident in the way he shared his music and his unwavering love for his community.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Clinton and Jean Bennett; his grandparents; cousins, Ricky Bourns and Larry Briscoe.
Survivors include his cousins, Terri Briscoe of Lone Grove, Chad Briscoe and wife Dawn of Ardmore, Amber Holybee and husband Josh of Lone Grove, Chase Briscoe and wife Jalynn of Lone Grove along with their kids Remy, Kimber, and Daisy, Natalie Atencia and husband Nick along with their children, Maleigh and Brentley, and Jennifer Briscoe; goddaughter, Hali Tanner of Wilson; special friends, Ethan Cox, Dixie Raney, Keith Raney, Derek Raney, and Richie.
Pallbearers will be Keith Raney, Derek Raney, Steve Cox, Chad Briscoe, Chase Briscoe, and Josh Holybee.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Friday evening, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
