John Michael Burris, 45, of Lone Grove, was born June 6, 1980, at Ardmore, to Mr. Ronnie Lynn Burris and Mrs. Alice Marie (Jackson) Burris. He departed this life Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Ardmore.
Raised in the close-knit community of Lone Grove, John completed his education at Lone Grove High School, proudly graduating with the class of 1999. During his high school years, he embraced his passions by participating in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and playing football, experiences that shaped his character and work ethic in the years to come. Soon after graduation, John began a career that demonstrated his loyalty and commitment. He joined Best Buy, where his dedication shone for a remarkable 15 years. Briefly venturing to Michelin, John’s connection to Best Buy remained strong, leading him to return for nearly five more years. His professional journey led him to employment at Kerr Pumps Company in Sulphur, Oklahoma, a position he held until his passing. John was united in marriage with Amanda Johanne Jolly, the love of his life, on December 29, 2014, in Lone Grove. Friends and family remember John as loving, thoughtful, and honest to a fault, known for his straightforward nature and unwavering stubbornness. His genuine care for those around him was evident in every aspect of his life. A man of many interests, John enjoyed the simple pleasures of spending time outdoors, especially fishing with his children and tending to his beloved chickens. He had a profound passion for raising and breeding American Staffordshire Bull Terrier dogs, a testament to his nurturing spirit and dedication. Additionally, John was an avid supporter of the University of Oklahoma, following both football and softball with enthusiasm.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents, John Ogden Burris, Thelma Ruth LaRoche, Theodore A Jackson, and Annie Marie Jackson; father, Ronnie Burris.
Survivors include his wife, Amanda of the home; children, Logan Knisley, Troy Knisley, Lynnden Burris, and Leeroy Burris; mother, Alice Burris of Lone Grove; siblings, Angela Wall and Cheryl Donahue and husband Jason all of Ardmore; nephews, Alan Wall, Steven Wall, Dalton Lantrip, and Alex Lantrip; niece, Ashlynn Lantrip; numerous other family and many friends.
Cremation services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Crematory.
