John Wesley Pierce

Healdton- Services for John Wesley Pierce will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton with Caleb Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow at Graham cemetery in Graham, OK.

John Wesley Pierce was born on November 27, 1944, to the late George Clifton Pierce and Gladys Elizabeth (Tannahill) Pierce. He departed this life on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at his home at the age of 82.

John attended Graham High School and left during his senior year to begin a career in the oilfield that would span more than 60 years. He was especially proud that, at a young age, he was able to help support his mother and three sisters. He dedicated much of his career to Sutherlands Well Service and worked there until the company closed. In addition, he owned and maintained more than 20 rental properties in Healdton and the surrounding area. John enjoyed tinkering and had a remarkable ability to repair or rebuild almost anything. He rarely met a problem he could not solve. A self-taught handyman, if he did not already know how to fix something, he would buy a book, learn the skill, and then get the job done. He was a hard worker who never minded getting his hands dirty. In 1966 John married Lula Pierce, and together they raised three children. They enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, and fishing as a family. He took great pride in watching his children grow into successful adults. Later in life, John shared many happy years with his significant other, Patty Smith. Together they enjoyed watching races at Arbuckle Speedway, camping, boating, attending flea markets, playing pool, listening to music, and simply spending time together.

John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys Pierce; and his sisters, Trella Pierce, Georgia Fellabaum, and Linda Beth Patton.

He is survived by his significant other, Patty Smith; his former wife, Lula Pierce; his children, Lori Rowland and husband James of Fort Worth, Texas; Clif Pierce and wife Lori of Healdton, Oklahoma; and Todd Pierce and wife Kate of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by Patty's sons, Charlie Smith and Bryan Smith, and was preceded in their family by the late Jessie Smith.

His grandchildren are Allison, Brooke, Callie, Kendall, Caleb, Kyle, Chance, Alexis, Aleah, Mason, Brooklyn, Dakota, and KK. His great-grandchildren are Ripley and Sutton.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Good Shepherd Hospice for their exceptional care, guidance, and compassion. Their loving team provided comfort and support to both John and his family, and we are deeply thankful for all they did.

John will be remembered for his strong work ethic, resourcefulness, willingness to help others, and unwavering dedication to his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Pierce, Todd Pierce, Caleb Pierce, Chance Pierce, Mason Pierce, Kyle Williams, and Bryan Smith.

Honorary bearers are Dakota Smith, Charlie Smith, and James Rowland.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M., Wednesday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton.
