Wilson - Mrs. Joleta Ann (Dodd) Duck, aged 78, passed away on August 8, 2025, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the River of Life Church, officiated by Bishop Stuart Sherill. Interment will follow at Newport Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Joleta was born on November 6, 1946, in Pernell, Oklahoma, to the late Everett Romayne Dodd and Juanita Faye (Holmes) Dodd. Raised primarily in Wilson, she graduated from Wilson High School in 1965 and went on to attend East Central University, where she focused on general studies. Joleta dedicated much of her professional life to clerical work within the county government, ultimately retiring from the Carter County Assessor's Office in 2008.

Joleta married Bro. Jim Duck on March 16, 1984, at the Old Western Heights Pentecostal Church in Ardmore, by Rev. James Zinger. As a pastor’s wife, Joleta took on numerous roles within the church, most notably teaching Sunday School and playing the piano. Her commitment to serving others was evident throughout her life, as she and Jim engaged in many revivals and evangelistic efforts together. In her later years, she enjoyed teaching children on Wednesday nights at the River of Life Church. But most of all, Joleta was a loving wife, mother, and grandma.

She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter. Joleta is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home; her children, Chris Connel and his wife Kathy of Ardmore and their children Sage and Bri Connel, Kasia and Joel Tunney and their daughter Asynja Tunney, Talon Connel, Shaun and Alissa McKee and their sons Koda and Kowan McKee, Byron Hue Duck and his wife Wendy and their daughter, Brianna Leigh Brown husband Brandon, their children Hayden James and Adyson Leigh, Alexis Rae Dunn, Robert Carter Dunn and wife Sabrina and little man Adrian of Wilmington, DE, and Nathan James Duck of Austin, TX; and a host of additional family and friends.

Pallbearers will include Sage Connel, Talon Connel, Joel Tunney, Robert Flowers, Gary Baker, Danny Keck, and Shaun McKee. Honorary bearers are Dewain Duck, Jay Bray, Chris Connel, and the late Bill Landreth.

Visitation will take place on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. Memories of Joleta may be shared online at www.alexandergrayfh.com.
